We are passionate about creating high-quality candles and taking good care of the earth. Our business started out of our awareness of the limitations of recycling, which we saw as a business opportunity. We started making handcrafted candle vessels out of old wine bottles to help reduce waste and create quality candles. Initially we were founded as Oak + Ash Candle Co, but we have made a very intentional choice to rebrand ourselves. Foxfire is a colloquial term from Appalachia which refers to the luminescence that can be seen in some decaying wood at night. Not only do we have roots in Appalachia, but we believe that Foxfire exemplifies the way in which beauty can be found even within cycles of death and decay. For us at Foxfire, we want to transform cycles of consumption and waste into something beautiful and more sustainable. At Foxfire Artisan Glass, we only use upcycled glass, 100% soy wax, and hand-pour clean, refreshing scents. We are constantly looking for ways to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and create beautiful and meaningful products. 

We believe that business should go beyond the trend of green-washing and nominal gestures towards environmental friendliness. We want to create quality products that also encourage more beneficial consumer practices, good for the environment, our communities, and the consumer.

We are also developing other glass products to further reduce waste and produce quality products.

We only use old wine and alcohol bottles for our candle vessels. After cutting them to size, we hand sand them and polish them to remove blemishes and create a beautiful vessel. We use organic, soy wax, and our fragrances are sourced by a carbon neutral supplier.
